after irene + raw sunday dinner

well, after bracing for irene, we in the triangle thankfully only had gusty winds between 25 and 45mph. and there was a lot of rain, but nothing compared to what those on the coast had to endure. hopefully not many people were around to actually endure the storm, as many were instructed to evacuate coastal areas at risk.

after spending yesterday indoors and mostly sleeping the blustery day away, today was absolutely beautiful in comparison. all the wind and the rain absolutely purified the air. i haven't experienced such clean, cool air as i did this morning in a long time. it was a gorgeous day, and the sunset was glorious. i spent the last hour of sunlight on my back porch basking in the golden-orange light and maintained the yoga tree pose for much of it. i felt so renewed and spiritually charged.

prior to this, however, i had a fantastic dinner...

raw zucchini noodles marinated in a lemon honey ginger vinaigrette, topped with honey-nama shoyu marinated portobello mushrooms. it was SO delicious. here's another view:

here is the link for the original recipe, but i always seem to make changes to any recipe i find, though in general i followed it pretty closely: Rawmazing Recipe

and for dessert, which was so good that i consumed it too quickly to take photographs, i made a raw cacao sauce and used it to cover banana slices. that was almost too good to be true. i hope everyone has had a safe and restful weekend, and my prayers go out to all those affected by the hurricane. check back tomorrow for my blog pick of the week!
